The new Cabinet of Ministers of the Interim Government took their oaths before President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday afternoon.

This was following the swearing-in of the new Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena which took place yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, President Ranil Wickremesinghe had not made many changes to the Cabinet of the previous Government and opted to appoint the same Ministers who held the appointments during former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s regime. However, there were two notable changes with Prof. G.L. Peiris being dropped from the Cabinet and Ali Sabry PC was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. This ministerial portfolio was previously held by Prof. G.L. Peiris.

In addition, the Ministry of Technology and Investment Promotion, which was earlier held by business tycoon Dhammika Perera has been taken under the purview of President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Dhammika Perera resigned from his ministerial portfolio earlier and also his parliament seat.
