CID to freeze assets of underworld gangster Sanjeeva

The Illegal Assets Investigations Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is contemplating on freezing the property, worth millions of Rupees, belonging to underworld gangster Makilangamuwe Sanjeeva, within the next two weeks.

He is wanted in connection with several shootings and killings that occurred recently in Colombo, Gampaha and Peliyagoda.The Police suspect that he has fled to Dubai and continues his organized crimes from there.

The Illegal Assets Investigations Division, which investigated the criminal’s assets, revealed a list of his properties, including vehicles,lands and houses.

The Division is conducting investigations to freeze the assets of about 80 notorious underworld leaders.It has already frozen assets worth Rs.830 million belonging to 32 drug peddlers, and the majority of them belong to underworld leader Dematagoda Chaminda.
