CFA Society Sri Lanka hosts webinar on Issues in Sovereign Domestic Debt Restructuring

The CFA Society Sri Lanka will be hosting a webinar on Issues in Sovereign Domestic Debt (SDD) Restructuring on August 24, 2022 from 6 p.m. onwards.

CFA, President of the CFA Society Sri Lanka Dinesh Warusavitharana said, “When emerging and developing economies accumulate more sovereign domestic debt, restructuring SDD poses a different set of challenges compared to a restructuring of sovereign foreign debt.”

“In such a context it is important to analyze the impact and how to restructure sovereign domestic debt while minimizing economic and financial disruptions”. Considering the far-reaching implications of restructuring SDD, to the financial sector, the CFA Society Sri Lanka has organized this virtual conversation for the benefit of all concerned. Murtaza Jafferjee CFA, CEO, JB Securities, Chairman, Advocata Institute, and Past President, CFA Society Sri Lanka will deliver the keynote speech on the theme “Sovereign Domestic Debt (SDD) Restructuring” and related issues pertaining to Sri Lanka.

This will be followed by, a panel discussion comprising Christopher Paul Dielmann, CFA, Senior Economist, The World Bank, formerly Lead Analyst,Debt Policy Division in the Strategy, Policy, and Review Department of the International Monetary Fund, and Anshari Perera, CFA, Head of Sector Research and Lead Macro Economic Analyst, Frontier Research (Pvt) Ltd. The discussion will be moderated by Ravi Abeysuriya, CFA, Director, Advocacy Chair / Past President of CFA Society Sri Lanka, and CEO / Director of Senfin Securities, Sri Lanka.
