Probe into quality of Thriposha - Minister

Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said in Parliament yesterday that an investigation is currently going on with regard to the quality of Thriposha.

The minister said this in reply to a question by Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Hesha Withanage.

The minister also said that the government has focused on child malnutrition in the country.

Due to the recent decline in local maize production, maize required for Thriposha had to be imported. As a result of that there may be some changes in the aflatoxin content of Thriposha.

He further said that this problem happened about one and a half months ago. He said that it is suspicious whether there is a political or marketing conspiracy behind this matter.
