Treasury to provide more information to creditors

The Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies Ministry said that information and details requested further by creditors from the government of Sri Lanka will be provided within the upcoming two weeks.

The Ministry also hopes that the institutions and organizations that gave loans will respond favourably to the government’s request last Friday (23) to assist in the restructuring of foreign loans taken by Sri Lanka.

Deputy Treasury Secretary Priyantha Ratnayake said that the government will provide further information and answers to questions in detail this week or next week, A special conference was held through Zoom technology with over 500 individuals and institutions that gave loans as well as Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena, on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, Central Bank Governor Dr.Nandalal Weerasinghe, the heads of the two international consulting firms in the financial and legal sectors selected to advise Sri Lanka on debt restructuring. Priyantha Ratnayake said this while replying to our inquiry about the next steps to be taken after that event.
