Fort Police arrested a Police Constable and two Train Ticket Checkers who were involved in a clash following an argument over a train ticket in the ‘Elle Odyssey’ special train to Colombo Fort from Badulla on Sunday (25). The police officer who was under the influence of alcohol had boarded this train without a valid ticket from Gampaha. When the ticket inspectors reached to check his tickets he had been involved in an argument and it had developed into a clash.
The ticket inspectors had lodged a complaint in this regard with the Colombo Fort Police claiming that the drunken police officer obstructed in their duty.
The police constable had threatened the ticket inspectors saying that the police officers have permission to board any train.
Meanwhile, the constable had lodged a complaint with the police claiming that he had a valid train ticket for this special train but the inspectors attempted to fine him stating that they cannot accept the said ticket.In his complaint, he had mentioned that the ticket inspectors were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.Police arrested all the three individuals.
