Two treasure hunters die

Two males were found dead inside a thirty five feet deep pit by the Walapane police yesterday (30).

The deceased include Abeysinghe Banda (61), a father of two and Nuwan Kumara (45), residents of Muhankele, Walapane.

The police found a generator and a water pump near the location.The police suspect that the deceased may have attempted to look for treasures believed to be hidden at the location. The police investigated following a complaint lodged by the villagers where the victims resided. The victims have left their houses saying that they will be going to work at their paddy fields.

Police stated that the cause of deaths is yet to be ascertained.
