Magistrate issues notice on Chinese national for alleged false complaint

Colombo Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera issued notice yesterday (17) on the Chinese man in charge of procurement at the Port City, who is said to have made an alleged false complaint to the Harbour Police saying that the Port City warehouse was broken into and copper bars and copper wires were stolen.

Police Inspector Nishantha Rajapakse while giving evidence to Court stated that the Chinese national in charge of the procurement of Colombo East Tower China Harbor Company, made a complaint to the Harbour Police regarding the theft of the copper rods.

After receiving this complaint, officers, fingerprinting officers and sniffer dogs were deployed to the place and conducted an inspection, but no fact regarding the theft of any property was revealed.

It was stated before the Court that during the further investigation, it was found that no such property has been lost.

Therefore, the Harbour Police stated that they will file a case against the complainant on the charge of making a false complaint and asked the court to issue a notice to the Chinese complainant to appear before the Court.
