Wadduwa police said that a man who produced a firearm with a length of nearly four feet similar to a firearm used by military sniper shooters,
while watching videos of firearms being made on the internet, was arrested yesterday (30).
The police said that the suspect is a 28-year-old resident of Talpitiya, Wadduwa, who has been recovering from drug addiction for some time.
Police said that discarded plastic parts, white iron parts, springs, iron and aluminum pipes were used to make the firearm and a telescopic sight was also installed using plastic and glass lenses.
An official who joined the raid said that cats and flying birds were shot by using this firearm.
Police said that the firearm was found while it was disassembled for another experiment to find out how to obtain more power rather than that from iron balls, when the suspect was arrested
The suspect was to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court.
