SJB wants response to select committee request over economic crisis

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harshana Rajakaruna questioned in Parliament as to what happened to the letter submitted to the Speaker requesting to appoint a select committee to investigate the circumstances transpired in and after 2019 that led to the economic crisis.

MP Rajakaruna said that the letter was signed by the Opposition MPs. He pointed out that they have not received any response to the letter. Since Parliament is the centre of accountability, immediately provide an answer to the said letter, MP Rajakaruna demanded.

MP Rajakaruna made these observations in parliament yesterday (2).

In reply, Speaker said that the letter has been forwarded to the Party leaders and they will respond in due course.
