salaries of Public Servants will be paid tomorrow

Minister of State for Finance Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya announced that the salaries of Public Servants will be paid tomorrow (25) as scheduled.

He also said that the salaries of the executive officers will be paid on the same day or on January 26.

He also said that Rs. 87 billion needed for Government employee salaries have already been released.  

The Government’s expected revenue in January is Rs. 145 billion and the Customs and Excise Department has already said it will fall short of its monthly revenue target by about Rs.10 billion. The State Minister also said that the total expenditure of the Government in January is estimated at Rs.625 billion and despite the scheduled revenue, there is a deficit of Rs.480 billion.
