Sri Lanka to participate at the over 50’s Cricket World Cup

Sri-Lanka will take part in the over 50’s World Cup Cricket tournament to be held in Cape Town, South Africa from 06th to the 22nd of March 2023 . Former first class cricketer, Senarath Seneviratne has been named to lead the side while Shane Fernado will act as his deputy and Shantha Gunasekera has been appointed as the Manager/ Co-ordinator . A 17 member squad has been selected and among them , Suwanji Madanayake, Suranjuth Dharmasena and Ruwin Peiris , who have represented the Sri-Lanka “ A “ team as well as Sri-Lanka U 19 cap Carmen Mapatuna have been included to the side .

Sri-Lanka , Australia, England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan, Wales, Namibia, Zimbabwe, USA, UAE and Canada will participate at this tournament.

Australia are the defending Champions, managed to clinch the title on two previous occasions, which was in 2018 and 2020.
