Diyaluma falls levy to be axed by Dy. Minister Diana Gamage

Deputy Minister of Tourism Diana Gamge made an immediate representation of the Haldummulla Pradeshiya Sabha (HPS) and reversed their decision to charge a fee of USD one from foreign tourists visiting the Diyaluma falls.

Minister said that she received several complaints that the Paradeshiya Saba was charging one US dollar from tourists and urgently told HPS Chairman Ashok Kumara to intervene. The Chairman has urgently summoned a meeting and the matter is to be sorted out soon.

HPS said that they are charging the money to provide sanitation facilities for tourists but the Deputy Minister found out that there is only a mini toilet and that too, a scotting one. “It’s not fair to charge dollars for providing low class facilities like this”, the Deputy Ministry said.
