Cabinet decides not to act on Upali Abeyratne PCOI recommendations

Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam informed the Supreme Court yesterday (28) that the Cabinet has decided not to implement the recommendations and findings of the Upali Abeyratne Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCOI) which investigated political revenge. The Attorney General further stated that the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission,

 the Sri Lanka Police, the Public Service Commission and the Attorney General’s Department have decided not to act according to those recommendations and findings. This was stated by the Attorney General who appeared before the court when nine fundamental rights petitions were filed demanding to invalidate the recommendations of the Presidential Commission which investigated political revenge and the decision taken by the Cabinet to implement those recommendations.

The Attorney General mentioned that the Cabinet has taken a policy decision not to act on the recommendations and findings of the commission that investigated political revenge.
