Chief Secretary of the Northern Province S. M. Saman Bandulasena, said that the Northern province for the first time has earned USD 100,000 recently by exporting bananas and will soon add mango and passion fruit to this export basket to bring more direct forex to the region.”
“The way forward lies in the hands of the relevant line ministries, the State Ministry of Rural Economy, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. Together, these entities have a mandate to create a conducive environment for entrepreneurship and investment promotion.”
He added that there are huge opportunities in renewable energy, education, agri, fisheries and also in tourism where the region has 29 islands including the Delft.
