The Deputy Principal of Ambalangoda Dharmasoka College was admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital due to being injured when he was shot at by two unidentified persons at about 7.20 am yesterday (26).
The person who was shot at is Dhanuka Mahesh De Soysa, a resident of Mohottiwatte in Balapitiya. The Deputy Principal was on his way to the school on his motorcycle when another motorbike ridden by two unidentified individuals, which had come from behind had shot at him at Randombe, Ambalangoda with a 9mm pistol.
He had been shot in the spine area and he had somehow reached the Ambalangoda Police Station. The shooters on their motorbike had pursued him and shot at him again near the police station but they had missed the target, police said. Officers of the Ambalangoda Police Station had admitted the injured person to the Balapitiya Hospital. The Ambalangoda Police are carrying out further investigations.
