Colombo, Ampara Rotarians provide artificial limbs

The Colombo and Ampara Rotary Clubs along with the Colombo Friend in need Society Mobile Services provided artificial limbs to 26 needy people of the District and eight others were informed to report to Colombo Rotary Club to receive their equipment recently. Technicians and staff of the Mobile Service Unit of the Colombo Friend In Need Society were in Akkaraipattu DS Office for three days working round the clock in preparing artificial limb and fittings.

A ceremony to mark the handing over of these artificial limbs to the selected people was held presided over by Akkaraipattu Divisional Secretary T.M.M.Ansar recently. Ampara Rotary Club President Rotarians Dr. Kamal Bandara, Eng. N.T.M.Sirajudeen, Hiran de Silva, and Dr. Sanjiv Rajapaksa, Assistant Divisional Secretary Y.Rasith, Administrative Officers M.S. Farook and A.L. Faisath and Akkaraipattu Army Camp 241 Brigade Lt. Colonel H. Thilak Kumarasiri were present. The Divisional Secretary thanked the technicians and staff of the Colombo Friend in need Society Mobile Service Unit for their constructive and genuine role in this important task.

They presented mementos as well to the technicians of the Colombo Friend in need Society Mobile Services and Rotarians of Colombo and Ampara in appreciation of their invaluable service.
