Two persons have died in a shooting that took place at dawn yesterday (24) at Mullikandal, Adampan on the Mannar-Jaffna Road. Two persons who had been travelling on a motorcycle on this road had become the victims of this shooting and been killed.
The two deceased persons have been identified as Kanapathi Kalimuththu (55), a resident of Periyamadu, Mannar and Jesudasan Arundava Rasa (57) resident at Uyilankulam.
No suspects in this shooting have been identified as yet and the reason for the shooting has not been revealed as of now, either.
When police officers had arrived at the scene on information received that two persons had died on the road due to an accident, they had discovered that the deaths were not due to a vehicle accident but because of a shooting.
Since the shooting had taken place at an isolated spot, it has not yet been possible to discover how the shooting had been carried out.
Mannar Police have commenced investigations into the incident.
