A female Police constable, who was admitted to the Dambulla Hospital with severe injuries in an accident which occurred in Thalakiriyagama on Tuesday (10), has died while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Dambulla Hospital, Police said.
This accident occurred when the motorcycle ridden by this constable collided head on with a tipper truck coming from the opposite end.
The deceased constable was a 24-year-old resident of Thalakiriyagama who worked in the Point Pedro Police station and she has met with this accident while on leave.
It is said that doctors had removed one of her legs and another surgery was to be done to remove one of her hands.
Deceased constable’s mother stated that this constable has been working for the Police for about three years to date.
The body has been kept in the Dambulla Hospital mortuary. The driver of the tipper truck has been arrested in connection with the accident and the Galewela Police are conducting further investigations.
