The final rites of veteran actiste Jackson Anthony are scheduled to be performed on today (12) at the St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Ragama at 3 p.m. The remains of the much-loved actor are lying at his residence at No. 57, Wanigasooriya Watta in Ragama now. Anthony passed away while receiving treatment at the ICU unit of the Colombo National Hospital for about 14 months following a car accident. He was 65 at the time of his demise.
Conganige Joseph Malsi Jackson Anthony, popularly known as Jackson Anthony born on July 8, 1958 was an esteemed actor in Sri Lankan cinema, theatre and television.
Anthony is one of the most popular artistes in Sri Lanka and has won the national award for the Best Actor for a record sixteen times. Anthony, an actor who has transcended in all three mediums of acting, has also shown outstanding talent and versatility as a director, producer, singer, screenwriter, television host, novelist, columnist, lyricist, historian and traveller.
