Rajeev Perera, a former student of DS Senanayake College, has been re-elected uncontested as the President of Havelock Sports Club.at the Annual General Meeting which took place on Saturday at the club house.
Perera’s Vice Presidents will be Graham Ruax, a former Peterite, Havelocks, and Sri Lanka, centre and Anuja Premaratne who is a former Royalist and President’s Counsel Nimal de Silva will serve as the Treasurer, overseeing the club’s finances, while Nirupan Wijenathan takes on the role of General Secretary. Rohan Daluwatte and Sanjika Perera were elected as Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer, respectively. Roshan Opatha will assume the responsibilities of Rugby Secretary, and Priyantha Grero will serve as Social Secretary. Manoj Bukshan, the Peterite rugby captain of 1991, was elected as Ground Secretary.
The club’s rugby team for the upcoming season will be led by Abdullah Faiz, with Sandesh Jayawickrama as vice-captain. Saliya Kumara, a former full back and scrum-half of Vidyartha, Havelocks, CH and FC, Kandy SC and Sri Lanka, will continue as the coach of the team.
Havelock Sports Club, which finished third in the Nippon Paint ‘A’ Division league and was runners-up in the Clifford Cup knockout tournament, aims to build on its recent successes under the leadership of these elected officials.
