The Education Ministry Secretary has requested in writing from Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security to ensure the security of the education sector including the security of state universities.
“As per the instructions given to me by the Education Minister, I kindly request that special security be provided for the teaching staff, student community, non-academic staff and property of the system in all public universities.
Also, I further request that necessary steps be taken to ensure this security to the areas around the university premises. I expect your special attention in this regard,” the letter stated.
The request from the Education Ministry comes in the wake of a strike by non-academic staff.
