Top foreign players for Lanka Premier League

The fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will commence from July 1 with international cricketers such as Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Agha Salman, Andre Fletcher, Fabian Allen, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Noor Ahmad, Rilee Rossouw, and Reeza Hendricks along with Afghanistan members Rahmanulah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Noor Ahmed and Mohammed Nabi also once again confirmed their participation for this fifth edition of LPL.

Sri Lanka T-20 team members who came back after disappointed world cup tour and promising players who performed well at the domestic level will be in action and they have a good opportunity to play with foreign players during this LPL.

Sri Lanka cricket yesterday released the final teams for this LPL which will commence from July 1 to 21.

Afghanistan opener Gurbaz is in the Colombo Strikers team along with Shadhab Khan,Taskin Ahmed , Glenn Phillips are on the Colombo team which will be led by Thisara Perera this time.

Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran, Bangladesh paceman Mustafizur Rahman, Reeza Hendricks South African opener are in Dambulla Sixes team which will be led by Kusal Janith Perera and former Sri Lanka leg spinner Rangana Herath will join the Dambulla team as head coach. Galle Marvels will be led by Niroshan Dickwella while former England dashing opener Alex Hales, New Zealander Tim Seifert and South African Dwaine Pretorious also included in the Galle team.

Jaffna Kings team comprises Afghanistan wrist spinner Noor Ahmed, Azmathullah Omarzai while West Indian Fabian Allen, South African Rilee Rossouw also in Jaffna team which is coached by Avishka Gunawardena.

Kandy Falcons team will be led by Wanindu Hasaranga while Mohammed Haris. Andre Fletcher, Salman Ali Agha (Pakistan) are included as foreign players for Kandy team.

The matches will be played across three venues. Premadasa Stadium Colombo, Dambulla International Stadium , and Pallekele International Stadium Kandy.

The league stage will run from July 1 to 16, with the five teams Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Sixers, Galle Marvels, Jaffna Kings, and Kandy Falcons competing against each other twice during this period. The playoffs will take place in Colombo from July 18, with the finals set for July 21.
