The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested 60 suspects including 30 Indian nationals yesterday (27) on charges of committing online financial fraud.
Upon receiving information about a group including Indian nationals involved in financial crimes conducted online, the CID carried out a raid in several areas and arrested the suspects from the areas of Thalangama, Madiwela, Kochchikade and Negombo, Police Media said.
At the time of arresting the 60 suspects, 135 mobile phones and 57 laptops had also been taken into custody by the CID officials.
The CID is currently investigating the incident to gather further evidence on the financial fraud committed by the suspects.
