The 48th National Age Groups Diving Championship, organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), will be worked off today and tomorrow at the Sugathadasa Stadium Aquatic Complex.
This two-day competition also serves as a selection trial to form the national pool for upcoming international events scheduled within the next six months.
The international competitions include the 14th Singapore National Diving Championship 2024 at OCBC in Singapore from August 30 to September 1, and the World Aquatics Junior Diving Championship 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 24 to December 1 this year.
The tournament features five age categories: Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-18, and Age 19 and Above. Events include the 1m Springboard, 3m Springboard, and Platform events starting at 8:30 AM on both days.
Medals and certificates will be awarded to the top three winners in each event, and individual age group champions will be recognized for both boys and girls.
Team championships will also be contested, with 10 points awarded for first place, seven for second, and five for third.
