NCC clinch Major Clubs T20 Trophy

NCC emerged as champions of the Major Clubs T20 cricket tournament, defeating Bloomfield by 8 wickets in a low-scoring final at the P. Sara Oval Stadium yesterday.

Bloomfield, invited to bat first, struggled and were bowled out for 54 in 10.1 overs. Leg spinner Lasith Embuldeniya took 3 for 5, supported by pacemen Chamika Karunaratne and Matheesha Pathirana, who took 2 wickets each. NCC chased down the target of 55 runs in just 5.5 overs, with openers Pathum Nissanka (18 off 10 balls with 3 fours and a six) and Niroshan Dickwella (unbeaten 15 off 16 balls with 3 fours) providing useful knocks. Bloomfield’s only successful bowler was Ravindu Fernando, who took 2 for 25.

Lasith Embuldeniya was named Man of the Final, while NCC all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne was awarded Player of the Series. Akila Dananjaya of Colts CC and Pawantha Weerasingha of Ace Capital CC were named Best Bowler and Best Batsman of the tournament, respectively. Deepal Madurapperuma, an SLC tournament committee member, was the chief guest.
