Chief Government Whip, Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that a two-day Parliamentary debate will be held tomorrow (2) and the day after (3) in order to more accurately disseminate information regarding the debt restructuring process in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, the Minister emphasized that the people will gain an understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of debt restructuring.
Minister Ranatunga said that the Opposition has the opportunity to participate in this debate and present important proposals and ideas to the country and the people instead of spreading false information that misleads the people.
But the Minister emphasized that the Opposition is preparing to engage in the usual petty politics by disrupting the Parliamentary debate on debt restructuring in the guise of Parliamentary Standing Orders. Minister Ranatunga said that it is unfortunate see the JVP and SJB are engaging in such petty politics at this difficult moment. He said that the Government
under the leadership of President Ranil Wickremesinghe will not implement any proposal that is harmful to the country and the people.
Minister Ranatunga emphasized that the Government is well prepared to defeat the political process of the Opposition and further mentioned that in this regard the Government will get the support from the Opposition MPs who love the country and the people above politics.
