Two Naval personnel have been apprehended by the Navy’s Special Investigation Unit for alleged involvement in a large-scale drug smuggling racket.
Following an extensive internal investigation by the Special Investigation Unit of the Sri Lanka Navy, two Naval personnel from the Naval Intelligence were arrested yesterday (30) on suspicion of aiding and abetting a large-scale drug smuggling racket, the Navy media unit said.
The two Naval personnel will be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for legal action, the Navy said. The Navy in recent times prevented several large-scale drug smuggling attempts to Sri Lanka using sea routes.
