Dhammika RatnaweeraSri Lanka under 19 girls team led by Bimandee Bandara recorded an easy 3-0 win over Bahrain at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship (AYTTC) which now in progress at Chingquon,China.
Sri Lanka is under 19 team comprised four time National champion Bimandee Bandara the 19 year paddler from Hillwood College Kandy and she was leading the way to victory in their opening game against Bahrain. Tamadi Kavindya, Divya Dharani Chandraguptha and Lesanya Sethumdee were the other members of the team. The same team performed really well at the recently concluded South Asian Junior Championship in Kandy to take silver medal.
Chathura Dushan the coach of Sri Lanka team gave good guidance at this tournament. Sri Lanka girls team is with Bahrain and Korea in the same group at this under 19 category.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka under 19 boys team was scheduled to play against Qatar team and boys under 15 team had a game against Hong Kong yesterday.
Sri Lanka boys under 15, 19 teams and under 15 girls team are taking part this tournament while over 30 countries across the Asian region are involved in this event. The tournament will continued until July 6.
