The earthquake that hit Southern Sumatra sea this morning but it has no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka, specifically the coastal areas of Sri Lanka are declared safe, the Meteorology Department said.
The earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 on the richter scale had occurred at the Southern Sumatra around 3:59am. (Sri Lankan time) today.
