The Balapitiya Post Office has been temporarily closed from Saturday after an officer of the Office tested COVID positive, Southern Province Deputy Post Master General T.L.M.P Mendis said.
PCR tests have been carried out on 21 staff members on the same day after the first was detected. Thereafter, the Post Office was temporarily closed until the PCR test results are available. Although the Office is not opened to the public, the staffers are on duty, The Deputy Post Master General said.
Galle District Regional Epidemiologist Dr. Venura K. Singarachchi said that the husband of the COVID infected officer had also tested COVID positive.
