Rishad’s domestic aide’s death: AG appoints team

The Attorney General has appointed a team of officials to advise on the investigation into the death of a 16 year old girl who was employed as a domestic in MP Rishad Bathiudeen’s residence.

The decision has been taken after Attorney General Sanjaya Rajaratnam had a discussion with a group of senior police officers at the Attorney General’s Department yesterday.

It is reported that the police officers had informed the Attorney General about the progress of the investigations carried out so far. Accordingly, a panel of lawyers headed by Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris has been appointed to advice on legal matters.

The Women and Child Development State Ministry has also launched a formal investigation into the death of the girl who died due to burn injuries.
