Over 1,000 containers to be released from Port

The release of more than a thousand containers stored in the Port due to the shortage of dollars will commence from today.

It has been agreed during a meeting with the Minister of Trade and the Governor of the Central Bank to issue the required dollars to release these containers containing essential items.

Accordingly, a team of officials led by the Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Trade submitted a report to the Central Bank    of Sri Lanka yesterday (06) containing the details of the goods of the importers. This has been done under the instructions of Minister of Trade Dr. Bandula Gunawardena.
