Toll charges announced for Mirigama-Kurunegala Section of Central Expressway

The Ministry of Highways has announced the toll charges for the Mirigama-Kurunegala Section of the Central Expressway which was opened on Saturday (15).

Vehicles using this Expressway will be charged under three categories.

Accordingly, any vehicle coming under Category 1 which includes all cars, all jeeps and all dual purpose vehicles including all cabs, all vans and light motor lorries will be charged Rs.100 from Dambokka to Kurunegala or Yaggapitiya, Rs.150 from Mirigama to Nakalagamuwa and from Nakalagamuwa to Dambokka, Kurunegala or Yaggapitiya, Rs.200 from Mirigama to Dambokka and Rs.250 from Mirigama to Kurunegala or Yaggapitiya.

All buses and lorries and trucks having two axles and six wheels come under the Category 2 will be charged Rs.150 from Dambokka to Kurunegala or Yaggapitiya, Rs.200 from Mirigama to Nakalagamuwa and from Nakalagamuwa to Dambokka, Rs.250 from Nakalagamuwa to Kurunegala or Yaggapitiya, Rs.300 from Mirigama to Dambokka and Rs.350 from Mirigama to Kurunegala or Yaggapitiya.

Category 3 includes heavy motor coaches and heavy motor lorries having more than two axles. They will be charged Rs.150 from Dambokka to Kurunegala or Yaggapitiya, Rs.250 from Nakulugamuwa to Dambokka, Rs.300 from Mirigama to Nakalagamuwa, Rs.350 from Nakalagamuwa to Kurunegala or Yaggapitiya, Rs.500 from Mirigama to Dambokka and Rs.550 from Mirigama to Kurunegala or Yaggapitiya.

Meanwhile, public transport bus services along the Central Expressway will commence from January 20. They will be running from Colombo to Kandy and from Colombo to Kurunegala and vice versa. Tractors, motorcycles, bicycles and three wheelers are not allowed to use this Expressway.
