President to launch work on country’s first technology park today

Work on the National Techno Park in Galle will be launched by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today. 
 
This is the first technology park which is being constructed in Sri Lanka. 
 
It is expected to add 350,000+ Sq Ft per location ensuring infra readiness for local and international tech entities to setup in Sri Lanka.
 
The construction of these technology parks aim to develop the technical knowledge and skills of the youth to empower them for the needs of the fast-developing science and technology sector.
 
The technology parks will be equipped with state-of-the-art office complexes with 5G communication facilities. For recreational activities, the selected locations will be equipped with sports and mental and physical relaxation facilities that blend in with the natural environment.
 
The main objective of establishing technology parks is to position Sri Lanka as a hub for technological innovation. It is also expected to attract foreign investment and bring about industrial and social transformation through innovation. In addition, it is expected to encourage new companies with advanced technology, promote export-oriented industries, create new employment opportunities, disseminate knowledge, improve the living standards of the people in the relevant areas and contribute to the national economic development by earning foreign exchange.
 
In addition to the technology park being set up in the Galle district, technology parks will be established in Kurunegala, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Habarana.
