Indian Foreign Secretary calls on Sri Lankan counterpart

Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra who paid a one day visit to Sri Lanka on June 23, 2022 met with Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aruni Wijewardane at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the Foreign Secretaries of India and Sri Lanka had a cordial discussion relating to the excellent bilateral relations between India and Sri Lanka.

They also discussed the current economic situation in Sri Lanka. Foreign Secretary, Wijewardane conveyed her appreciation to her Indian counterpart for the support and assistance extended to Sri Lanka by India to overcome the present economic challenges.

The Indian Foreign Secretary was accompanied by Indian High Commissioner Gopal Bagley and Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs of India Kartik Pande. Additional Secretary South Asia B. Kandeepan, Director General South Asia W. Dharmapala, and Director General Economic Affairs Chandana Weerasena of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka were also present.
