Over 20 Mn worth items stolen from businessman’s house

Maharagama Police have initiated an extensive investigation into a complaint received by the

Maharagama Police that thieves broke into the house of a businessman residing  at Pannipitiya Polwatte and stole valuable items to the value of more than Rs. 20 million.

The businessman who owns the house has filed a complaint about this theft Sunday. The businessman who owns two hotels in Wadduwa and Kataragama resides with his wife and children in Nawinna.

The gardener has told the Police that he occasionally resides in the house at Pannipitiya Polwatte. The last time the businessman and his family members stayed in this house was on March 21 and were reported to have left at 7 a.m.

When they went home on Sunday (26) at around 3 p.m., they realised that their house had been robbed and lodged a complaint with the Police.

The businessman had told the Police that 102 sovereigns of gold items, foreign liquor, 300 US Dollars and an expensive watch were stolen. Police are investigating.
