Kandy prison guard gets life imprisonment for drug peddling

Kandy High Court Judge R. S. S. Sapuvida sentenced a prison guard to life imprisonment on Wednesday (7).

The convict prison guard is M.G. Malaka Mihira Bandara (45), a resident of Theldeniya.

He is accused of trafficking drugs into the prison and selling drugs to the prison inmates. In 2014, the Attorney General indicted the prison guard who was arrested with drugs. Pronouncing the verdict in the case that was tried for almost nine years, the High Court Judge sentenced the accused to life imprisonment.

State Counsel Dhammika Udawatta conducted the complaint while attorney Nilantha Perera appeared for the accused.
