A fleet of 23 vehicles belonging to institutions under the purview of the Agriculture Ministry had been misused during the Rajapaksa regime and two of these vehicles had been provided to veteran lyricist Bandula Nanayakkarawasam.
This was disclosed by State Counsel Janaka Bandara in his submissions before the Presidential Commission Investigating Fraud Corruption Abuse of Power State Resources and Priviledges.
It was also revealed that Nanayakkarawasam had been an area officer attached to the Commercial Bank and provision of two state vehicles to him was a very serious matter. Janaka Bandara also gave a detailed list of misused vehicles during his submissions during the non summary inquiry into the acts of fraud and corruption in the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agricultural Research Institute.
