Sri Lanka, Malaysia to boost economic ties

 Malaysia and Sri Lanka reiterated keen desire to build on the outcomes of the recent highest level engagements and to achieve concrete progress on the decisions taken during a meeting Foreign Affairs State Minister Vasantha Senanayake had with Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Haji Aman, on August 7.

The meeting took place in the sidelines of the Grand Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN and the 24th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in the Philippine. State Minister Senanayake represented Sri Lanka at the occasion. The Ministers agreed to convene a bilateral dialogue mechanisms focusing on trade, investment, tourism, culture and enhance business collaboration.

State Minister Senanayake conveyed Sri Lanka's desire to intensify closer cooperation with ASEAN including as a future Sectoral Dialogue Partner and sought Malaysia's support for the partnership. .

MP Buddhika Pathirana, Sri Lanka's Ambassador to the Philippines Aruni Ranaraja, Director General of East Asia and the Pacific O.L. Ameerajwad and senior officials participated.
