Two magnificent centuries by Praveen Nimesh (101) and Kemira Nayanatharu (110 not out) helped Gurukula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya to beat St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa on first innings by 177 runs in their inter school under 19 cricket match played at Wattala.
Praveen had 16 fours and 1 six and occupied the crease for 214 minutes and faced 129 balls and he was associated in a third wicket partnership of 117 runs with Kemira.
Kemira had 13 hits to the ropes and occupied the crease for 181 minutes and faced 220 balls.
Also he was associated in a fifth wicket stand of 110 runs with Nuwan Chenula who contributed 62 runs. Batting first Vazians scored 163 runs with Hasitha Gamage scoring 41 runs and in reply Kelaniya lads declared at 340 for 5 and at stumps visitors were 50 for 1.
