Weapons cache destroyed on Court instructions

A large cache of weapons which had accumulated as productions of legal cases finalised in the Southern Province High Court, Galle was dispatched to the deep seas, inlayed in the sea and destroyed following instructions of incumbent Galle High Court Judge Wasantha Jinadasa and his predecessor High Court Judge Manjula Thilakarathne.

The destroyed weapons included swords, Rambo Knives, Pointed Knives, T 56 firearms, ammunitions, pistols, revolvers, hand grenades, bullets and hatchets. The weapons were first handed over to Galle Naval Base and subsequently they were carried to the deep Sea in a Dora ship under strict security.
