Western Province Governor Azath Salley approved a payment of Rs 3,000 to 350 acting principals paid only to to graded principals in the province earlier.
The directive for payment was issued on Thursday on a request made to the governor by Provincial Council Education, Culture, Social Welfare, Probation and Childcare and Women's Affairs and Council Affairs Minister, Ranjith Somawansa and a delegation last week.
The delegation comprised province's Principals' Union members.
The governor said this special allowance will boost the morale of these acting principals who were covering principals’ duties without any special allowances.
The governor also pledged to do his best to improve child education in the province.The meeting also discussed future programmes that could be taken up in the region to find schools for all children who seek schools for their primary education.
This special allowance will help beneficiaries and will indirectly benefit the students.
