STF Commandant Senior DIG Latiff retires

Special Task Force (STF) Commandant Senior DIG MR Latiff will retire today after over 40 years of unblemished service in the Sri Lanka Police.

A deciplinarian who always tried to protect the dignity of the Police service, Senior DIG Latiff has served a number of divisions in the Police service during his 40 year career.

Latiff rendered great service to the country as Commanding Officer of the Terrorism Investigation Division and Director of VIP Protection .

He played a pivotal role in eradicating the drug menace from the country by conducting isladwide raids. Under his leadership,the STF succeeded in recovering nearly 1,000 kilogrammes of heroin.

Latiff joined the Sri Lanka Police Department as a Sub Inspector in 1979. He was enlisted to the elite Police force – the Special Task Force in 1983, one year after, the STF was established in the country.

He showed his skills in crime investigations too.
