Krishan Wickramarathne of Vidyartha College Kandy and Erandhi Warusawithana of University of Moratuwa won the Men’s and Women’s titles respectively at the recently concluded All Island Mayors Cup Ranking Table Tennis Championships which was held at the indoor stadium.
Krishan beat his college mate Dinesh Kavishka 4-2 at the finals while Erandi scored an upset win over National Champion Ishara Madurangi.
However the women’s final between Ishara and Erandi was a thriller and finally Erandi won the game 4 3 to win the title.
Meanwhile 14 year old Senura Silva of Ananda College Colombo won the both under 15 and under 18 titles.
Deputy Mayor of Kandy Ilahi Abdeen was the Chief Guest while former Sri Lanka Paddler Manzil Muthalib and MMC member Waruna Liyanage graced the occasion as special guests at the awards ceremony.
