A wild elephant has attacked a 71-year- old father of six on Wednesday morning when he was in the Bundala jungle to collect firewood.
The victim was identified as Andrahennadige Gunapala of Pallemalala, Weligatta.
A verdict of accidental death was declared at the inquest.
Hambantota police are investigating.
