Malaysian Business delegation in Colombo

A top delegation representing the Malaysia - Sri Lankan Business Chamber of Commerce is presently in Colombo to explore for investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.

Their visit was coordinated by Colombo Trading Pvt. Ltd., Colombo 14, while their partners in Malaysia, Safetyway Group are in Kuala Lumpur.

The President, Malaysia Sri Lanka Business Chamber of Commerce (MSLBCC) Dr. Thanavathy Chitra, met Deputy Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, Nalin Bandara yesterday, to explore for opportunities in Sri Lanka.

The Deputy Minister explained the new inceptives that are offered to foreign investors and opportunities that are available in Economic zones.

Dr. Thanavathy Chitra later met Western Provincial Governor Azad Salley and other government stake holders. Chairman, Colombo Trading Pvt. Ltd., M. R. M. Reaz said that the Malaysia delegation was happy with the outcome of their meeting with Deputy Minister Nalin Bandara and other officials.

The Malaysian business delegation has expressed interest in three key areas. “One area is to set up organic farms for exports. They are on the lookout for acquiring land on long term lease.” The other area they are keen on is in constriction and higher education sectors. “The Malaysians are keen to have joint venture agreements in these segments.”

Meanwhile, Managing Director Colombo Trading Pvt. Ltd., H. M. S. Arafath said that Dr. Thanavathy Chitra is also the Chariperson of Shakila Skin Care products, while operating several Spas in Malaysia. “She is keen to market some of her Spa products in Sri Lanka.”

In addition, she is also on the lookout launching several training programs for Sri Lankan Spa Therapists, which would help them gain employment in Malaysia.
