Man killed during argument
A man was killed after an argument broke out between two groups in the Samanthurai Police Division on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammed Miran (73), a resident of Ninthavur.
Police revealed that the killing was carried out by two suspects who were under the influence of alcohol.
The body is being kept under police protection at the place where the incident took place.
Samanthurai Police are conducting further investigations to arrest the two suspects.
Man dies in accident
A man died when the bicycle he was riding collided with a lorry in Chilaw, on the road to Puttalam.
Both persons on the bicycle were severely injured and had been admitted to the Chilaw Hospital where one died.
The deceased’s body is at the Chilaw Hospital morgue.
The deceased has not yet been identified and Chilaw Police are conducting further investigations.
Motorcyclist dies in accident
A man died when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a private bus in Samanthurai.
The motorcyclist died on admission to hospital. He was identified as Kasim Riyal (34), a resident of Ninthavur.
The body is at the morgue of Ashraff Hospital, Kalmunai. The bus driver has been arrested in connection with the accident.
Samanthurai Police are conducting further investigations.
Dies after fall off footboard
A man returning to Puttalam after a pilgrimage died after falling off the footboard of the bus on which he was travelling.
The victim who was severely injured died on admission to the Nochchiyagama Hospital.
The body is at the Nochchiyagama Hospital morgue. The bus driver has been arrested in this regard and the Nochchciyagama Police are conducting further investigations.
Container kills motorcyclist
A motorcyclist died when a container collided with his vehicle in Habarana.
Both persons on the motorcycle were severely injured and the rider died on admission to the Dambulla Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Kumara Rathnayake (39), a resident of Alawwa.
The body is at the morgue of Dambulla Hospital.
The driver of the container has been arrested with regard to the accident. Habarana Police are conducting further investigations.
Lorry collides with motorcycle, one dead
A motorcyclist died when a lorry collided with his vehicle in Pudukuduirippu. The motorcyclist who was severely injured died on admission to the Pudukuduirippu Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Nallathambi Rasakumaran (44), a resident of Pudukuduirippu.
The body is at the Pudukuduirippu Hospital.
The lorry driver has been arrested with regard to the accident and the Pudukuduirippu Police are conducting further investigations.
