Suspect held with locally made gun

Thiniyawala Police arrested a suspect with a locally made gun in Thiniyawala, Ihalahewessa, on Sunday. The suspect was arrested after 10 warrants were issued for his arrest.

The suspect is a 32-year-old resident of Ayudagala, Ihalahewessa. He was produced before the Mathugama Magistrate and further investigations are being conducted by Thiniyawala Police.

Suspects arrested with heroin

Modara Police arrested a suspect for possession of five grams and 20mg of heroin on Sunday afternoon.

The suspect is a 27-year-old resident of Mattakkuliya. He was to be produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate.

Meanwhile, STF officers arrested a suspect for possession of four grams and 880mg of heroin in Badovita on Sunday night.

The suspect is a 39-year-old resident of Badovita, Mount Lavinia. He was to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate yesterday.

Suspect arrested with illicit liquor

Ingiriya Police during a raid on Sunday morning arrested a suspect with 135 bottles of illicit liquor and equipment used to produce it.

The suspect is a 35-year-old resident of Katukithulkanda, Hadapangoda. The suspect was to be produced before the Horana Magistrate today.

Motorcyclist dies in accident

An accident occurred on the Atthidiya road on Saturday afternoon involving a motorcycle, a van and a lorry.

The two persons on the motorcycle were admitted to hospital and the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased is a 54-year-old resident of Lunawa, Moratuwa. The drivers of the van and lorry were arrested and Mount Lavinia Police are conducting further investigations.
