Six persons involved in the clash in Negombo on Monday night which resulted in the death of one person had surrendered to the Negombo Police this afternoon and were subsequently arrested.
The Police Media Unit stated that one suspect, an 18-year-old had been arrested early this morning.
All seven suspects involved in the incident are currently in the custody of the Negombo Police and is scheduled to be produced in the Negombo Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (11).
One arrested over clash in Negombo (13:35)
The Negombo Police carried out investigations regarding the incident which occurred in a wayside hotel in Periyamulla on Monday night where one person had been killed during a clash and had arrested one person in connection with this incident.
The arrested suspect is an 18-year-old resident of the Negombo, Periyamulla area.
A group of six persons had gone to a hotel in Periyamulla, Negombo on Monday night around 9.30 and had attempted to consume alcohol within the hotel premises. However, the hotel owner and his staff had objected to them consuming alcohol within the hotel premises.
